Hello again, thought I’d give you a happy update on the rhubarb. I’ve been buying frozen rhubarb and putting it in green smoothies every day. The rhubarb gives the smoothie a good tangy flavor that I like and best of all I really think that my knee seems to be responding a little for the better. It’s not as sensitive, or painful, and I’ve noticed I can actually walk further without it giving me trouble and go down steps almost normally now. Amazing!! This all started a while after eating the rhubarb regularly. I didn’t make the association between the two until I realized that steps were getting easier and I hadn’t changed anything else to cause the improvement. So thanks again Kayley for the great information! I will still try to get the genetic testing done.

Thanks for the warning. My rheumatologist is excellent, a good thinker and very kind. She’s my favorite doctor. She isn’t a specialist in arthrofibrosis, like the doctor that works with Dr. Noyes in Cincinnati though. Her name is Kinga Vereczkey and she works in Pittsboro, NC.

My journey with AF led me to discover that I test positive for autoimmunity. Prior to TKR surgery I knew that inflammation had run amok in my body and I started changing my diet to be more anti-inflammatory, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the AF after surgery. :-( I think some kind of epigenetic thing must’ve happened to cause this major transformation of my biology and I believe it was stress related. My rheumatologist suggested it might be useful to get some genetic testing done, and following the thread above I’m wondering if and what types of genetic testing might be helpful. Your thoughts?
